The Monolith
A downloadable soundtrack
My entry for the 2021 OST Composing Jam, with the theme "A Journey to Remember".
This soundtrack follows a lone adventurer, drawn to the call of the great Monolith out in the desert wastes, far from civilization. This ancient spire twists into the sky, eclipsing the dunes upon which it rests. No one knows what the monolithic tower holds within, for its history is shrouded in secrecy and those who managed to escape its cold embrace are few. One thing is certain however - the adventurer’s very soul is intertwined with this place, and they must reach the top…
These songs feature classical guitar, orchestral instruments, and an eclectic mix of folk instruments ranging from Taiko drums to the Erhu. I wanted to capture a dark, brooding sound that still felt adventurous, and was very inspired by soundtracks like Hades, Dead Cells, and Blasphemous. Enjoy!
Track list:
- Into the Wastes

Hello Major,
I sent you a demand on your website for the use of 'The Monolith' in my 'MHaS' project. Have you receive it?
Can you send me an answer please?
(Maybe on itch.io, because I have not received email if you had already answered).
Rgd,
Hey, thanks for the message! I did get your email, and responded to it already :)
Here's what I'd sent in case you didn't get it:
Thanks for reaching out! This looks like a very cool project, I'll be excited to see what you do with it.
Yes, you can absolutely use music from the The Monolith. I would just ask to have my name and website credited like you mentioned.
Also if you're ever interested in a custom soundtrack for the game in the future, let me know! It would be fun to work together.
Cheers and best of luck,
- Major
